Zelie’s Home welcomes pregnant women that are in need of support and empowerment from a caring community. With two homes located in the Greater Cleveland area; one on the west side and the other on the east side, our homes are the only homes in Cuyahoga County that provides shelter to pregnant women for more than 90 days. 

Women are welcomed into our communities at any point in their pregnancy and stay up to 9 months post-pregnancy.

To reach out:

  • Call our intake line 216-282-8053 and speak with one of our Intake Managers. The intake line is monitored Monday through Thursday 9am-5pm and upon availability, so please allow 24-72 hrs for one of the Intake Managers to follow up.

  • Fill out our Intake Form and one of our Intake Managers will follow up.

All spots are on a first come first served basis dependent upon eligibility. All inquiries are returned in the order in which they are received.

Qualifications

  • Pregnant 

  • At least 18 years of age 

  • Free from drugs and alcohol (at least 30 days)

  • Free from immediate physical danger 

  • Free from Severe Mental Health diagnoses

  • No other children in her immediate care (case by case)

How does the process work?

The intake process begins with a pre screening over the phone to determine eligibility followed by a meeting in the community at a public location such as a restaurant, library, or community collaborative.  At this meeting, each mom is walked through a series of interview questions to determine their eligibility.

What does a mom need to bring to the eligibility meeting?

We ask that she brings an ID and proof of pregnancy.

What happens after a mom qualifies?

If the mom is determined to be a qualifying candidate, she will receive an invitation to move-in.

 
 

How long does the intake process take?

The intake process can range from one to five business days.

What if a mom needs emergency housing?

If you or anyone you know in Cuyahoga County needs immediate emergency housing, please call 2-1-1 (United Way First Call for Help Line) for referral assistance.
